Languages are more than words.

My journey with languages as an Artisan Tutor is not only a personal passion, but a legacy that runs deep through generations.

One of my 19th-century ancestors served as a linguist and administrator for the East India Trading Company, navigating diverse languages and cultures across continents. Hindi? Bengali? Gujarat? I look forward to those future polyglot adventures.

A great-great-grandmother of mine was a Spanish-speaking Gibraltarian. Perhaps this explains why Spanish remains one of the languages I feel most at home in? Cuando hablo en español, there is always a sense of something familiar and precious, as though touching a piece of my own past.

In more recent times, my grandfather — an Oxford classicist and well-respected Headmaster — was selected by the intelligence services to learn Russian from scratch and serve as an interpreter (read: a Cold War spy). His encouragement, linguistic expertise, and dedication to learning left a lasting impression that continues to guide me.

Following in those footsteps, I have dedicated over 20 years to studying and teaching languages with the precision and passion of a true artisan educator.

I am fluent in five languages and have travelled extensively throughout Western and Central Europe, and parts of Russia this side of the Urals. I have explored Israel and the Middle East - Arabic remains high on my polyglot bucket list.

Today, I carry forward this rich inheritance with a pedagogy that blends linguistic expertise, examiner experience, and highly-personalised teaching.
